Searching Coahoma County Criminal Dockets
Coahoma County Circuit and County Court put their electronic criminal records on Public Access to Mississippi Electronic Courts, known as PAMEC. PAMEC gives read-only public access for courts on the Mississippi Electronic Courts system, or MEC. You can confirm Coahoma County Circuit and County Court on the public 11th Circuit MEC court-information page. One caution applies here. The case-search controls sit behind a login. So do not count on any particular search fields until you see the account screens.
Begin with the court, plus a case or cause number and filing year when you have them. A number beats a broad name search. Keep the record routes straight, too. Justice Court, municipal court, and Circuit or County Court in Coahoma County are separate systems. A Clarksdale payment screen will take a citation number. But it is not a full Coahoma County criminal docket. If you cannot tell which court holds the matter, sort that out first rather than reading an empty search result as proof that no record exists.
- Identify whether the Coahoma County matter belongs in Circuit, County, Justice, or a municipal court.
- For covered Circuit or County Court matters, register for PAMEC and select the Coahoma County court before using its current search controls.
- Use the narrowest public identifier available, then open the case history or docket sheet rather than relying on one document title.
- Read the dates, settings, charge or count entries, and result entries in order. A setting and a disposition answer different questions.
- If the needed record is absent or certification is required, contact the custodian that keeps the Coahoma County file.
Note: PAMEC charges an annual registration fee. It also bills for every page a search generates, even when the result comes back with no match.
Coahoma County Criminal Docket Access
Coahoma County Circuit and County Court joined MEC on October 26, 2020. That date matters when a Coahoma County criminal search comes up short. An older paper file, a restricted matter, or a case sitting in another court may simply not show online. PAMEC terms also limit public users to non-restricted cases and documents, bar automated collection, and forbid account sharing. Remote viewing helps. It is not an unrestricted Coahoma County database.
When a case does appear, PAMEC serves up the Coahoma County case history, docket sheet, public documents, and notices where available. Its non-attorney terms list a $10 annual registration charge and a $0.20 charge per page a search generates. Need a certified disposition, judgment, or clerk-maintained copy? The Circuit Clerk is still the route. Viewing a Coahoma County document online never makes it a certified copy.
| Coahoma County search route | Observed field or control | Access limit |

| 11th Circuit CourtInfo | Coahoma County court-selection and information page | Public court information, not a case search. |
| Coahoma County Justice Court | No official public web fields located | Call the Justice Clerk or use the courthouse counter. |
| Municipal Court | Clarksdale exposes a Citation Number field. | A payment lookup, not a complete Coahoma County criminal docket. |
| DPS citation abstracts | Annual-file and year links | Free non-PII downloads with no determination or adjudication data. |
Inside a Coahoma County Criminal Docket
Think of a Coahoma County criminal docket as a chronological index. It is not the full evidence file. Depending on the portal, the entries may show the court and division, case number, filing date, case type and status, role labels, charge or code reference, hearing settings, document links, disposition, costs, warrant or capias markers, appeal markers, and restricted-record flags. The order varies. A Coahoma County document link can also fail to open. The filing may be sealed, redacted, or carry a separate charge.
Read any Coahoma County result in passes. Check the court and case type first. Then follow the sequence of appearances, filings, motions, and settings. Finish by finding the Coahoma County order or judgment that states the legal result. Remember what a docket line does not say. A motion entry means a motion was filed, nothing more. A hearing date means a setting exists, not that anything was decided.
| Court and case number | Identifies the Coahoma County court and unique cause or case record before a reader interprets other entries. |
|---|---|
| Charge and count fields | May show the offense description, statute or code reference, severity, and originating-agency information. An accusation is not a disposition. |
| Case history | Tracks events such as initial appearance, indictment or information, arraignment, motions, pretrial, plea, trial, sentencing, and appeal. |
| Settings | Shows a scheduled date, time, courtroom, event type, attendance mode, and any reset or continuance text. |
| Result and flags | Can show a judgment, sentence, dismissal, probation, appeal, or a restricted, sealed, expunged, or document-availability indicator. |
Coahoma County Criminal Status Flags
Some Coahoma County criminal labels deserve a second look. The MEC flag list includes Nolle Pros Pending, Plea Pending, Trial Pending, Probation, Capias Pending, Bench Warrant Issued/Returned, STAYED, SEALED, and EXPUNGED. A flag is only a workflow marker. It cannot replace the signed Coahoma County order or settle every fact about the case.
- Arraignment
- The formal criminal appearance and plea stage shown as a Coahoma County setting or event.
- Nolle prosequi
- The prosecution's formal decision not to proceed on a Coahoma County charge. A pending label does not prove completion.
- Capias
- A writ or Coahoma County order for arrest or appearance, often connected to a nonappearance. Confirm current status with the clerk.
- Deferred
- An outcome in which adjudication or sentencing is deferred under an order. It is not the same as a dismissal.
Keep three things apart: the charge, the plea or verdict, and the sentence. A dismissal may cover just one count. A plea can precede sentencing. For the formal result, get the order or a certified Coahoma County record.
How a Criminal Case Moves
A Coahoma County Circuit criminal matter can run through initial appearance or preliminary hearing, indictment or information, arraignment, discovery, motions, pretrial activity, plea or trial, sentencing, probation or compliance, and post-judgment appeal. Not every case hits each step. Coahoma County Court may hold a misdemeanor or preliminary matter. Circuit Court handles the felony trial. Transfers and specialty-court flags can make the displayed path look less direct.
Docket flow: Filing → Arraignment → Pretrial → Plea or Trial → Disposition → Sentencing.
An old Coahoma County arraignment setting is not necessarily the current date. Check every later reset, continuance, order, and notice before relying on any date in the docket. A plea entry is not a sentence. A closed marker is not a Coahoma County judgment.
Note: A docket records events over time. So the latest signed order plus the clerk's confirmation outweigh any older setting row.
Coahoma County Criminal Court Lanes
In Coahoma County, criminal cases sort themselves by court level. Circuit Court is where Coahoma County felonies are tried. County Court shares misdemeanor work with Justice Court, holds felony preliminary hearings, and can take a transferred noncapital felony. Justice Court handles misdemeanors, preliminary hearings, and traffic or citation matters within its authority. City ordinance cases and limited misdemeanor or traffic matters sit with the municipal courts. Each Coahoma County lane keeps its own clerk or municipal custodian, so the case level tells you where the docket lives.
| Coahoma County court route | Criminal docket focus | First record contact |
|---|---|---|
| Circuit Court | Felony proceedings and Circuit criminal filings | Circuit Clerk and covered MEC/PAMEC access |
| County Court | Misdemeanors, preliminary hearings, and transferred matters | County Court or Circuit Clerk |
| Justice Court | Lower-court misdemeanors, preliminaries, and citations | Justice Court Clerk |
| Municipal court | City ordinance and limited municipal criminal matters | The responsible city or town court clerk |
Courts That Hold Criminal Dockets
Start criminal record hunting with the Circuit Clerk. That office is the principal Coahoma County contact for Circuit and County Court filings. It files and keeps indictments, motions, judgments, and the rest of the court papers. Justice Court and the municipal courts hold their own lower-court records. So a Circuit Clerk search is the wrong Coahoma County route for a citation or city ordinance case.
Once you know the court, scheduling questions go through Court Administration. That office is separate from the clerk's filed-record work. For a docket sheet, case history, judgment, or copies, the clerk is still the better first Coahoma County contact. An administrator can point you to the right scheduling route. Chancery records, meanwhile, stay with the Chancery Clerk. Its own calendar system is not part of a criminal docket search.
Coahoma County Criminal Docket Gaps
A missing Coahoma County result can mean several things. The case may sit in Justice Court or municipal court. It may predate local MEC coverage. The name may be incomplete. The record may be protected. The public system reaches only courts that adopted MEC and only non-restricted records. Coahoma County posts no county-hosted public case-search box. The courthouse offers no confirmed public terminal.
When a result is missing: Check the court level and case number, then ask the proper Coahoma County clerk whether the record is older, restricted, or kept by a different court. Do not infer a person's criminal status from an empty search or a sealed label.
Justice and municipal matters in Coahoma County have no official public web search fields. The documented fallback is phone, counter, mail, fax, or email contact with the custodian. When you call, ask narrowly for a "case history" or "docket sheet" rather than every criminal record on file; a narrow request gets a faster answer in Coahoma County.
Sealed Dockets and Public Access
Public Coahoma County access has real limits. PAMEC lets the public view non-restricted cases and documents. Yet a visible docket entry may lack a document link or carry a redaction or restriction flag. Sealed, expunged, minor-child, DHS, and similar indicators all mark boundaries. Youth Court is the biggest one. It holds exclusive jurisdiction over certain matters involving people under 18. A Coahoma County public search that omits a lawful restriction proves nothing about whether a case exists.
The Mississippi Public Records Act backs public inspection and copying of nonexempt records. But Coahoma County court records also answer to judicial access rules and court orders. The judiciary is a separate branch. So a county public-records contact is not automatically the custodian of a court file. Ask the Coahoma County clerk which portions, if any, can be inspected. Ask also what lawful process covers restricted material.
Key Rules:
Miss. Code § 25-61-5 recognizes inspection and copying of nonexempt public records under reasonable written procedures.
Miss. Code § 25-61-11 addresses exemptions and privileged material that may limit public access.
Mississippi Rule of Appellate Procedure 48A provides a formal rule reference for confidential appellate records and sealed filings.
Note: A sealed, expunged, or restricted flag marks an access boundary. It is not a factual conclusion about the underlying matter.
Coahoma County Criminal Certified Records
Need a Coahoma County certified judgment or disposition? Contact the Circuit Clerk with the court, case number, filing year, and the exact product you need. Confirm the amount and accepted payment method before sending anything.
Coahoma County Circuit Clerk
115 First Street, Clarksdale, MS 38614
(662) 624-3014
Records custodian for Circuit and County Court criminal filings, judgments, and clerk-maintained copies.
Name the court in your Coahoma County request, and do not confuse a certified clerk copy with a court-reporter transcript. A transcript is a separate Coahoma County product with its own process. For Justice Court or municipal matters, take the request to that lower court's own clerk, not the Circuit Clerk.
